Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Cases- 150 donors- Repeat voluntary male platelet donors who are eligible as per established national guidelines/departmental SOPs Donor who has donated apheresis platelets at least 6 times in the last 12 months for frequent and infrequent groups . Controls- (30) First time voluntary male platelet donors who are eligible as per established national guidelines/departmental SOPs Not excluded as per exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Any platelet donor who is not eligible to donate platelets as per national guidelines/departmental SOPs Female donors Any Donor who has donated blood in the last 6 months

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. To assess the hematological and biochemical (iron stores) parameters in repeat voluntary male platelet donors as predictors of iron stores depletion. 2. To analyse for the correlation of parameters (biochemical and hematological) with the frequency of plateletpheresis donationTimepoint: Single time point measurement at baseline only

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To analyse for the correlation between the biochemical parameters and the haematological parametersTimepoint: Single time point measurement at baseline only
