Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients aged between 18 to 60 years ASA grade I II or III patients with ability to communicate

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patients refusal to consent, patients receiving neuromuscular blocking medications and patients on ventilators

to evaluate the efficacy of IV fentanyl combined with field infiltration with local anesthetic injection lignocaine for reduction of pain during internal jugular vein cannulationTimepoint: 10 minutes before IJV cannulation and 60 minutes after completion of procedure
