Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients with AO33-C2 and AO33-C3 femoral fractures presenting to the emergency department during the first 18 months of the study. Age group 18-60 years Operated within 21 days of injury. Open fractures Gustilo-Anderson grade 1,2,3A presenting within 7 days of injury.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Associated fractures in the ipsilateral limb Patients with open fractures (open grade 3b an 3c) Patients with periprosthetic fractures / peri-implant fractures. Patients with pathological fractures due to neoplastic lesion. Patients with ipsilateral limb surgery in the past  Patients not giving consent Patients not willing to follow up

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To assess functional outcomes following dual plating for distal femur fractures using Knee Society Clinical score and Lysholm knee scoring scale. To assess the radiological outcomes by observing the union of three cortices of bone in AP/ Lateral radiographs and Computed Tomography.Timepoint: 6 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the outcomes of the study with a cross-matched retrospective cohort treated with single lateral plating for distal femur fractures. Timepoint: 6 months
