Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients belonging to ASA physical status grade 1,2& 3 requiring central vein catheterisation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with deranged coagulation profile, having infection at the site of insertion, morbid obese patients in whom landmarks difficult to identify, patients having ipsilateral neck/clavicle/first rib fracture or any deformity and contralateral pneumothorax

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare supraclavicular and infraclavicular approaches of landmark guided subclavian vein catheterization in adult patients undergoing elective surgeries using procedural timeTimepoint: At the initiation of the procedure till the end of the procedure

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Number of attempts for subclavian vein cannulation 2.Success rate of subclavian vein cannulation 3.Any associated complications with subclavian vein cannulationTimepoint: At the initiation of the procedure and after the procedure , X ray is done to rule out procedure related complications.(post procedure x ray)
