Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients posted for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy 2.American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status Iâ??II 3.Age from 18 to 65 years 4.Body mass index of 18 to 29/kg/m

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Known allergy to study drugs 2.Those patients with peritoneal drain after surgery 3.Patients who get converted to open cholecystectomy due to some reason 4.Patient who had difficulty in expressing pain score like hearing disability, mentally challenged, dementia or psychiatric illness 5.Refusal of the patient to provide written consent

To compare the quality of post-operative pain relief obtained after 30 minutes of extubation in groups Ropivacaine with Fentanyl and Ropivacaine with dexmedetomidine using VAS score.Timepoint: Haemodynamic monitoring in the form of pulse rate, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure will be recorded at 0 min,30 min,60 min,90 min,2 hour,4 hour,6 hour,8 hour,10 hour,12 hour,18 hour,24 hour After extubation when the patient responds to verbal command it will be referred as Time â??0â??

1. To note the duration of post operative pain relief in both the study groups. 2. To compare the VAS score in post operative pain relief in both the study groups. 3. To note the Time of first dose of rescue analgesia in both the study groups. 4. To note the Total amount of analgesics given in both the groups. 5. To note any side effects during post-operative period attributed to the drugs. Timepoint: Haemodynamic monitoring in the form of pulse rate, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure,VAS score will be recorded at 0 min,30 min,60 min,90 min,2 hour,4 hour,6 hour,8 hour,10 hour,12 hour,18 hour,24 hour Time of first dose of resc ue analgesia will be recorded.
