Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA score 1. Healthy patients aged between 16-60 years. Previously root canal treated teeth done minimum 2 years or more having symptomatic apical periodontitis. (PAI Single rooted teeth with single canal having closed apex.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Teeth with PAI >2. ASA score 2-5. Patients who have undergone root canal treatment Periodontally compromised teeth. Multirooted and single rooted teeth with more than one canal. Teeth with poor prognosis and endodontic mishaps. Teeth having weeping canals. Teeth treated with posts. Patients under any medications for a week (before the procedure). Teeth with immature apex. All the excluded patients will receive the appropriate treatments but not be included in the study.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Quantification and comparison of endotoxins before and after continuous chelation will show a decrease in endotoxin concentration levels.Timepoint: Samples will be taken at three time intervals - Immediately after GP removal (baseline) and after chemomechanical preparation.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Comparison of endotoxins after placement of calcium hydroxide will show complete elimination. Comparison of endotoxin at three time intervals will show reduction at each time interval.Timepoint: Level of endotoxin concentration will be compared between the baseline and 7 days after placement of calcium hydroxide.
