Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Patients aged between 18-50 years posted for elective surgeries 2) ASA I and II patients

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patient refusal 2) Patients taking antacids, H2 receptor blockers, opioid analgesics, metoclopramide 3) Patients with a history of any GI disorders, diabetes mellitus 4)Pregnant women

Residual gastric volume on the day of surgery after overnight fastingTimepoint: Preoperative residual gastric volume will be measured by ultrasonographic examination in the pre-anaesthetic room just before the patient is taken up for surgery
