Interventions

Intervention1: oral complex carbohydrates preoperatively: pregnant women planned for elective caesarean section will be given 100g oral complex carbohydrate powder in 1000ml of water to be consumed 6h

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. pregnant women providing written informed consent 2. pregnant women undergoing elective Caesarean section 3. American Society of Anaesthesiologists class 1 and 2 4. BMI 18- 35Kg/m2

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. pregnant women not willing to give consent 2. contraindication for subarachnoid block 3. coagulation disorder, severe gastro esophageal reflux disease 4. pre existing gneurological deficits 5. respiratory insufficiency
