Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Age >18 years. 2.Absence of diarrhea at the time of ICU admission. 3.On full or substantial enteral nutrition (Substantial enteral nutrition defined for the sake of the study as =50% of calories enterally).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Known GI diseases like inflammatory bowel disease. 2.Patients receiving intravenous metronidazole for another condition. 3.Presence of visible GI bleed. 4.Presence of ileostomy or colostomy.
