Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients admitted for surgery aged 18 years or older All those who are willing to provide consent to participate All those who are coherent and conscious All those who are cleared by the medico-surgical team to consider for participation All those able to read and understand English or Tamil

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Emergency surgical cases, seriously ill and labouring mothers Patients who were unavailable or had incomplete questionnaires
