Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)Expected ICU stay > 24 hours 2)Within 24 hours of ICU admission 3)Has an indwelling urinary catheter or has the indication for one 4)Receiving antibiotics

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)AKI on admission (as defined by KDIGO guidelines if preadmission creatinine is available and as per MDRD study calculation if preadmission creatinine is not available) 2)Non-index ICU admission 3)Chronic kidney disease as defined eGFR 4)Trauma/surgery involving kidneys 5)Renal replacement therapy (RRT) 6)Renal artery stenosis 7)Poor abdominal echogenicity

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To find the ability of Renal Resistive Index to accurately predict Augmented Renal Clearance in in a mixed cohort of medical, surgical and trauma patients in an adult intensive care setting of a tertiary care hospitalTimepoint: day 1 of ICU admission

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.To find the relation between Creatinine Clearance and Renal Resistive Index 2.To identify factors affecting Augmented Renal Clearance including hemodynamic parameters and patient characteristics 3.To compare between RRI and ARC prediction score for the prediction of ARC 4.To find the effect of ARC on clinical outcomes – ICU length of stay (LOS) and/ or ICU survival Timepoint: Length of ICU stay or survival
