Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients who require central venous catheter placement in the Internal Jugular vein or Subclavian vein. 2. Ventilated or Non-ventilated patients. 3. Patients of either sex between the age group 18-60 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Inability to perform test due to Obesity. 2. Inability to visualise Heart due to anatomical limitations. 3. Patients with contraindication for CVC placement(coagulopathy,Hemorrhage from target vessel,Suspected proximal vascular injury, infection overlying the insertion site, thrombus within intended vein) 4. Patient with chest trauma/Subcutaneus emphysema(which can make USG interpretation difficult) 5. Refusal for procedure by patient or patientââ?¬•s relatives.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Microbubbles will be visible in right atriumTimepoint: Microbubbles have to be visible with in 10 seconds of saline flush from distal port of cvc

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Microbubbles cannot be visible if cvc is not properly placedTimepoint: Cvc can be checked for misplacement after 10 seconds of saline flush without microbubbles
