Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I or II 2.BMI between 18-30 Kg/m2

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Psychiatric disorder like schizophrenia 2.Patients with alcohol withdrawal/dependance 3. Recent intake of analgesics within 7 days of surgery 4. Patients on long term opioids or sedative medication 5. Patients weighing less than 30kilogram 6. Those allergic to study drugs 7. Pregnant patients 8. Surgery lasting more than 2 hours were excluded from the study. 9. Bleeding disorders or coagulopathy

Design outcomes

MeasureTime frame
1. To find out mean arterial pressure and mean heart rate at various time intervals. 2. To find out the mean Numerical rating scale for pain at 2, 4, 6,12,24,48 hours after surgery 3. To find out duration of analgesia by assessing time to 1st analgesic request by the patient 4. To find out postoperative analgesic requirement in both groups 5. To find out any adverse effects in the post operative period. Timepoint: Baseline,5 minutes after induction, every 10minutes after start of surgery up to 1 hour, before extubation, 10 minutes after extubation, 2, 4, 6,12,24,48 hours after the surgery.
