Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients age 18-50 years of ASA 1 and ASA 2 undergoing elective surgery of less than 3 hours requiring general anaesthesia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient who refuses to participate. 2. Morbid obesity >40kg/m2 3. Chronic lung disease 4. Chronic liver disease 5. Associated chest trauma. 6. Associated Head Injury. 7. Neuromuscular diseases (myasthenia gravis, diaphragmatic palsy etc)

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Changes in EtCO2 and its relation with emergence from anaesthesia and return of consciousness.Timepoint: Baseline ABG will be done after induction and 2nd ABG will be done before giving reversal. After giving reversal the following parameters will be recorded every minute - vitals, SpO2, RR, tidal volume and for every 30 seconds EtCO2, MAC, BIS and TOF will be noted.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To find out the correlation of ETCO2 with adequacy of neuromuscular blockade reversal and emergence as measured with MAC, BIS.Timepoint: Baseline ABG will be done after induction and 2nd ABG will be done before giving reversal. After giving reversal the following parameters will be recorded every minute - vitals, SpO2, RR, tidal volume and for every 30 seconds EtCO2, MAC, BIS and TOF will be noted.
