Measurement of certain vitamin and metal nutrient and an enzyme level; that is; thiamine pyrophosphate, copper and phosphodiestrase; in blood; in individuals having and not having diabetis related eye disease; and comparing them with their vision test report.

Correlation of blood thiamine pyrophosphate, copper, phosphodiesterase and RBC transketolase with clinical visual acuity and diabetic retinopathy grading scores.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Group A) individuals 40-75yrs age and both genders; without having diabetes mellitus. Group B) individuals 40-75yrs age and both genders, diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and havenâ??t developed any retinal complication. Group C) individuals 40-75yrs age and both genders, with diabetes mellitus and diagnosed with non proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Group D) individuals 40-75yrs age and both genders, with diabetes mellitus and diagnosed with proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: i. individuals with other retinal conditions ii. individuals undergone recent surgery or recent blood transfusion ( iii. individuals having other comorbid diseases like malignancies, severe systemic illness iv. chronic alcoholics v. anaemic patients

Visual acuity scores and diabetic retinopathy grading as per the modified ETDRS criteria among patients with DRTimepoint: baseline and 3 months (post LASER / anti VEGEF treatment among those patients with retinopathy undergoing treatment).
