Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Adult patient undergoing elective abdominal surgery through upper abdominal surgery. 2. Age group 19-65 years 3. ASA grade I and II

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patient refusal 2. Uncooperative patient 3.Patient with uncontrolled pulmonary disorders existing prior to surgical procedure 4.Patient undergoing emergency surgery 5.Patient requiring the dissection of diaphragm as a part of surgical procedure 6.BMI >30 7. ASA grade III and IV 8. Pregnant females 9. Age 65 years

To compare the ventilatory function by Peak Expiratory Flow rate (PEFR) in the immediate pre operative and postoperative periods of patients undergoing elective surgical procedures in the upper abdomen.Timepoint: 7 days
