Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) Grade I and II patients undergoing lower abdominal or lower limb surgeries in supine position under General Anesthesia, with requirement of fluid bolus for volume expansion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient refusal. 2. Pregnant patients. 3. Fluid overload before anesthesia. 4. Patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery. 5. Patients with heart failure. 6. Patients with no available doppler acoustic window.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
End-Tidal Carbon dioxide (ETCO2) and Cardiac output (CO)Timepoint: 1. After induction of general anesthesia. 2. 1 minute after administering a fluid bolus of 250 mL Saline over 10 minutes.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Fluid responsiveness after giving fluid bolus during surgeryTimepoint: Intra-operative baseline values of EtCO2 and cardiac output will be measured 10 min after induction and fluid bolus of 250ml NS will be given over 10 minutes,EtCO2 and cardiac output will be measured again,10 minutes and 30 minutes after induction .
