Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All infants above age of 6 months and children below the age of 6 years and body weight less than 20 kg undergoing elective surgery ( < 4 hours duration).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Infants below age of 6 months, children above 6 years of age, children more than 20 kg body weight even if below 6 years of age, children having complex congenital deformities, children subjected to emergency surgeries and surgical procedures more than 4 hours duration.

Serum will be analysed for Na+, K+, Glucose, lactate, and bicarbonateTimepoint: Just after induction of anaesthesia and 60 minutes thereafter till the end of surgery
