Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: A known case of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, who is on treatment with OHAâ??s or insulin since the past five years, or who has been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus based on criteria given by the American Diabetes Association posted for elective surgery.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Systemic illnesses that also affect the autonomic nervous system including thyroid issues, cardiac, respiratory issues, renal or hepatic impairment, and malignancy. 2. Patient is on drugs that affect autonomic function, such as B-blockers, sympathomimetics, vasodilators, diuretics, anti-arrhythmics, etc, 3. Patients with underlying cardiac illnesses such as CAD, IHD, RHD, CHF, etc must be excluded as well.

| Other signs of end organ damage due to Diabetes MellitusTimepoint: If the patient is found to have significant autonomic neuropathy, evidence of other end-organ damage will be investigated as well. Fundoscopy will be done to detect diabetic retinopathy, pin prick sensation to detect peripheral neuropathy, as well as baseline creatinine levels to detect diabetic nephropathy. Time Point - baseline (during the initial assessment). There is no follow up over a certain period of time | — |
