Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Patients suffering from moderate to severe chronic generalised periodontitis as defined by American Academy of Periodontology criteria, 1999 • Patients who have at least 4 sites with pocket probing depth of 6 mm or more in one or both of arches. • Patients willing for treatment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • All patients suffering from known systemic diseases which could alter healing response of periodontium. • Patients who have received any periodontal treatment in 6 months before study. • History of medication (antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs) in 3 months before study. • Patients using medicated toothpaste or anti-bacterial mouth rinse. • Acute periodontal conditions. • Patients wearing orthodontic or other removable appliances. • Pregnant or nursing women
