Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Chronic periodontitis indicated for periodontal flap surgery (more than 5mm residual pocket depth after phase I therapy of oral prophylaxis and maintenance) 2. Age > 30 years 3. Systemically healthy individual

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with systemic illness like hypertension, diabetes mellitus, immunocompromised individuals etc. 2. Patients under medication that are known to affect the outcomes of periodontal therapy 3. Smokers and patients with any tobacco consumption habit 4. With known allergy to chlorhexidine or the components of the mouth rinse 5. Pregnant/ Lactating women 6. Patients who have taken anti-biotics in any form in the last 3 months
