Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Group I: healthy gingiva with no change in color, no signs of redness, edema and bleeding on probing. 2.Group II: generalized gingivitis with slight redness, edema, presence of bleeding on probing. 3.Group III: chronic generalized periodontitis with marked redness, edema & tendency of spontaneous bleeding on probing. Probing pocket depth > 5mm, CAL > 5mm, presence of alveolar bone loss radiographically. 4.Systematically healthy individual of age group 25-60 years having minimum 20 teeth.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Systemic disease like diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, kidney, liver, lung disease, Arthritis. 2.Smoker & former smoker. 3.Treatment with any medication such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs & antibiotic for past 3 month. 4.Pregnant & lactating women. 5.Patient failing to follow up
