Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients presenting to PICU with septic shock refractory to fluid boluses and needing vasopressors would be enrolled

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with contraindications to cuff application/inflation: 1. arm injuries or wounds, limb oedema 2. presence of arrhythmias 3. at high risk for intravascular thrombosis (diabetic ketoacidosis, nephrotic syndrome and hypercoagulable states) 4. non-functional arterial catheter (defined as presence of overshooting or undershooting phenomenon following rapid flush test) 5. absent pulses 6. having confounders of NIBP monitoring (chronic hypertension, obstructive airway disease and obesity) 7. Patients referred from other centre who has received vasopressors for more than 24 hours will also excluded

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Agreement between the Non invasive and Invasive blood pressure recordings.Timepoint: Assessed one hourly or during change in dose of vasoactive agent. Will be assessed while the child is receiving vasoactive agents during PICU stay

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Complications associated with each method of blood pressure recordingTimepoint: Hourly and daily
