Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. All children from age 6 months to 6 years for elective unilateral inguinal herniotomy 2. ASA Grade I and II

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Non consenting parents 2. Coagulopathy 3. Infection at site of puncture 4. Congenital anomaly of spine 5. Known allergy to drug used in study 6. Clinically important cardiac, renal, hepatic or neurological complications

Assessment of post-operative analgesic effect between Ilioinguinal- Iliohypogastric nerve block and Caudal epidural block by using FLACC scoreTimepoint: 1. At baseline 2.Immediate post-operative period 3.At 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour,every 1 hour thereafter for 4 hours and at time of discharge

1. assessment of requirement of post-operative rescue analgesia and pain free period 2. assessment of adverse effects like motor blockade, nausea, vomiting, urinary retention and haematoma at site of injectionTimepoint: 1.At baseline 2.Immediate post-operative period 3.At 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour,every 1 hour thereafter for 4 hours and at time of discharge
