Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Cases: All the patients above the age of 18yrs of age attending the dialysis unit with clinically and biochemically proven ESRD. Controls: Hospital based matched controls will be selected from the pool of patients undergoing dialysis for CKD. They will be matched for Age, Gender and NCDs (Diabetes, Hypertension) and its duration.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Cases: Cases with history of heavy metal poisoning from occupational sources will be excluded. Controls: Patients with ESRD will be excluded.

The data generated from this study will help us to realise the impact that ayurvedic medicines containing heavy metals have on a patient in developing End-stage Renal Disease (ESRD).Timepoint: 2 Months—

1. This study well set a benchmark for the judicious use of ayurvedic medicines in people suffering from non-communicable disease (NCDs). 2. This research will also enlighten the public about the chronic exposure of heavy metals and its harmful effects on the body.Timepoint: 2 Months—
