Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: FOR CASES: 1.Patient with systolic blood pressure >140mmHg, diastolic blood pressure >90mmHg 2.All patients who are on anti hypertensive treatment 3.Age : 35-75 years FOR CONTROLS: Normotensive subjects of patients relative

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patient with secondary causes of hypertension such as chronic kidney diseases, bilateral renal artery stenosis , coarctation of aorta, congestive cardiac failure. 2.Patient with drug induced nephrotoxic damage. 3.Patient with thyroid dysfunction. 4.Patient with continuous or periodic use of corticosteroid. 5.Patient with severe illness such as malignancy, severe infection, respiratory disease, liver disease. 6.Pregnant women and Women using contraceptive pills.

1. To assess the association of Angiotensin II type I receptor gene polymorphism with family history. 2.To assess the distribution of Angiotensin II type I receptor gene polymorphism according to age, sex and BMI. Timepoint: 1year
