Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. All adult patients ( >18 years) who will receive invasive mechanical ventilation through endotracheal tube/tracheostomy tube for hypoxemic respiratory failure.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Age less than 18years. 2. If patient received MV >48 hours in last 6 months. 3. Patients will not be re-recruited. 4. Duration of MV 5. Profound neurological deficit leading to sleep apnea. • Psychiatric, agitated or non-cooperative patients. • Patients with ascites. • Post – thoracotomy patients with suspected phrenic nerve palsy. • Those not giving consent.
