Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Paediatric patients aged 3-10 years, ASA grades I and II of either sex, scheduled to undergo elective surgery under general anaesthesia with controlled ventilation, participating in the present study, and whose parents give valid informed consent would be enrolled. Both parental and childâ??s (verbal) consent would be mandatory.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Anticipated difficult airway. 2. History of cardiac, hepatic, renal disorders, neurological ailments, spine disorders and metabolic disorders. 3. Recent upper respiratory tract infection, sore throat, history of asthma, risk of regurgitation and aspiration. 4. Bleeding diasthesis. 5. History of previous surgery on face, head and neck. 6. Surgical procedures lasting more than 90 minutes. 7. Children with behavioural disorders.

To compare airway sealing pressures of I-gel with Air-Q as a supraglottic airway device in paediatric patients undergoing surgical procedures under general anaesthesia with controlled ventilationTimepoint: Airway leak pressure would be measured immediately after successful placement of supraglottic airway device is confirmed i.e.,achieve a tidal volume of 8ml/kg and a square wave capnogram

1. Haemodynamic paramaters â?? Heart rate, Systolic Blood pressure, Diastolic Blood pressure, Mean Blood pressure, peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2%). 2. Fibreoptic view of glottis. 3. Insertion characteristics a) time to insertion. b) first attempt success rate. c) number of attempts. d) ease of insertion. 4. Airway interventions required Timepoint: 1)HAEMODYNAMIC PARAMETERSHAEMODYNAMIC PARAMETERS-T1- immediately after insertion of supraglottic airway device. T5-5 mins after insertion of supraglottic airway device. T10-10 mins after insertion of supraglottic airway device 2) Insertion criteria: would include a) Time to insertion-time would start with the removal of facemask and end with end -tidal carbon dioxide graph would be observed
