Interventions

Intervention1: Injection Zoledronic Acid: Patients who will be given zoledronic acid on post-op day 3 or before discharge, POD-3 being the ideal time. Dose - inj zoledronic acid 5mg with 100ml NS int

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Intertrochanteric fractures associated with trivial trauma. Serum calcium more than 8-11 mg per decilitre. Creatinine clearance more than 30 ml. Unilateral hip fractures.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient taking oral corticosteroids. Age less than 50 years. Patients with active malignancies. Chronic renal failure. Secondary osteoporosis. History of taking zoledronic acid within 1 yr prior to hip fracture Patients treated with teriparatide.
