Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 25 patients with Millerâ??s class 1 and class 2 recession defects, will be enrolled to receive de- epithelialized gingival unit grafts underneath bridge flap technique. Plaque and gingival index will be scored at baseline after scaling, at 4 weeks and subsequently at every post surgical visit of the patient. Post-surgery, the patients will be recalled every two weeks for the first two months and once every month thereafter for 6 months. Recession depth, recession width, probing depth, keratinised gingiva width, clinical attachment level both at donor and recipient site will be recorded at baseline 1 month, 3 months, 6 months. Supra gingival polishing at each of these visits may be done as required. In addition a healing index for the donor site at 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks and an esthetic score for the recipient site at six months will be recorded.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: 25 Millerâ??s class 1 and class II recession defects associated with inadequacy of keratinised gingiva in mandibular anterior region. Exclusion criteria: 1. Smoker or tobacco chewing subjects 2. Pregnant subjects and subjects with systemic diseases or taking drugs which might influence healing after periodontal surgery

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To determine the effectiveness of bridge flap with deepithelialised gingival unit graft to treat mucogingival problems in Millerâ??s class 1 and class II (RT1) gingival recessions over a period of 6 months .Timepoint: 6 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the aesthetic predictability of the treated sites using root coverage esthetic index score (RES). To evaluate the healing index of donor site using healing index. Timepoint: 6 months
