Intervention1: Ropivacaine, Morphine: 0.2 % Ropivacaine and 2 mg morphine epidural bolus will be given once before inducing General Anaesthesia Frequency- Only once Route of administration - Epidural

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA GRADE 1 AND 2. PATIENTS UNDERGOING LAPAROTOMY UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: REFUSAL BY PATIENT TO PARTICIPATE IN STUDY. ALLERGIES TO LOCAL ANAESTHETICS OR STUDY DRUG. ANY CONTRAINDICATION TO REGIONAL ANAESTHESIA. ASA 3 AND 4. NEUROLOGICAL DISEASES. PATIENTS PHYSICALLY DEPENDENT ON OPIOIDS.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Patients receiving epidural bolus of 0.2% ropivacaine and morphine will need less intraoperative analgesia and longer postoperative pain free period.Timepoint: 10 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To study the adverse effects of drugs used in the study.Timepoint: 10 months
