Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients giving written informed consent 2.American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) grade I or II scheduled for inguinal hernia repair 3.Adults in the age group of 18 â?? 65 years 4.Patients with BMI 18.5-22.9 kg/m2 5.Unilateral inguinal hernia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with systemic hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, cerebrovascular insufficiency. 2.Coagulation abnormalities 3.Renal or Hepatic insufficiency 4.Infection at the site of injection 5.Strangulated hernia 6.Hypersensitivity to local anaesthetics 7.Patients converted to general anaesthesia intra-operatively 8.Failed spinal anaesthesia

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1.To record the VAS scoreTimepoint: At the end of surgery, every hour for the first 6 hours, at 12 hours, at 18 hours, and 24hours , first rescue analgesia needed and total consumption of analgesics in 24 hours

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Duration of first rescue analgesia needed, total consumption of analgesics in 24 hours, hemodynamic parameters and any complications/side effects in both the groups. 2.To compare the outcomes in both the groups. 3.To recommend better technique for post-operative analgesia in inguinal hernia repair. Timepoint: At the end of surgery, every hour for the first 6 hours, at 12 hours, at 18 hours, and 24hours , first rescue analgesia needed and total consumption of analgesics in 24 hours
