Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Adults who are the first degree relatives of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with active malignancy 2.People living with HIV 3.Patients on immunosuppressive agents 4.Patients with chronic comorbid conditions such as Chronic Liver Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease, Coronary Artery Disease 5.Obese patients (Body Mass Index >30) 6.Patients with Hypothyroidism and other endocrinopathies such as Cushingâ??s syndrome 7.Drugs causing derangement of glucose profile 8.Pregnancy

MeasureTime frame
1.To estimate the prevalence of pre-diabetes and diabetes in first degree relatives of type 2 diabetes mellitus patientsTimepoint: at the end of the study

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.To assess the insulin resistance in these subjects. 2.To assess the awareness about lifestyle modifications among these subjects using a validated questionnaire. 3.To study the effect of lifestyle modifications on their metabolic profile in these subjects in addition to standard drug treatment. 4.To study the prevalence of TCF7L2 gene polymorphisms in diabetic patients and their first-degree relatives. Timepoint: at the end of the study
