Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 18-60 years, requiring intubation or re-intubation and mechanical ventilation in the ICU with an expected ventilation duration of more than 48 h and non-pregnant patients will be eligible.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who had a previous tracheal injury Age 60 yrs Expected ventilation duration of less than 48 h Pregnant patient Patient admitted after cardiac arrest Patient intubated other than Suction Above the Cuff Endotracheal Tube (SACETT)
