Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA physical classification I & II paediatric patients undergoing short elective surgeries up to 2 hours duration under general anaesthesia using I-gel supraglottic airway.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Paediatric patients with reactive airway, anticipated difficult airway, risk of aspiration, overweight ( Body-mass index at or above 95th percentile), underweight (Body-mass index at or below 5th percentile), history of seizure disorder, psychiatric disorder, increased intracranial or intraocular pressure, contraindications for propofol and ketamine will be excluded from study.

MeasureTime frame
To compare i-gel supraglottic airway insertion conditions with two different ratios of ketamine-propofol admixture (ketofol) 1:2, 1:4 and propofol as induction agent.Timepoint: BIS (Bispectral index) value of less than or equal to 40

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Haemodynamic stability including heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean blood pressure, SpO2.Timepoint: 1. Basal 2. Immediately following induction of anaesthesia. 3. Immediately after i-gel supraglottic airway insertion. 4. 3 minutes after i-gel supraglottic airway insertion. 5. 5 minutes after i-gel supraglottic airway insertion. 6. 10 min after i-gel supraglottic airway insertion.;Local pain at injection siteTimepoint: At the time of study drug injection.
