Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Male patients having their first acute urinary retention secondary to benign prostate hyperplasia
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1)Patients with bladder stones 2)Renal impairment 3)Urethral stricture 4)Neurogenic bladder 5)Prostate cancer 6)Medically induced retention 7)Previous usage of alpha blockers 8)Chronic retention with bladder volume more than 1000ml 9)Painless chronic retention
