Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the role of absolute iPTH decline and absolute serum ionised calcium decline at 1 hour and 1 day post thyroidectomy in predicting hypocalcemia. To evaluate the role of serum magnesium levels in post-thyroidectomy hypocalcemia Timepoint: To evaluate the role of absolute iPTH decline and absolute serum ionised calcium decline at 1 hour and 1 day post thyroidectomy in predicting hypocalcemia. To evaluate the role of serum magnesium levels in post-thyroidectomy hypocalcemia

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To develop a composite scoring system for predicting patients at high risk for developing significant hypocalcemia in post-operative period To develop a protocol for initiating calcium and vitamin D supplementation based on biochemical results. To correlate Bethesda scoring system for thyroid cytopathology and TI-RADS system for thyroid lesion with histopathology Timepoint: At post operative day 0 and 1
