Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA physical status I/ II, scheduled to undergo elective non-abdominal and non-thoracic surgery in supine position, anticipating duration of general anaesthesia between 1-3 hours and requiring mechanical ventilation after intubation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Prematurity, previous thoracic surgery, upper or lower airway infection, airway anomaly, cardiac disease, pulmonary disease, anticipated difficult airway, pneumothorax, pleural effusion, or pneumonia.
