Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All inborn and outborn neonates admitted in NICU needing Umbilical Venous Catheterinsertion. Indications for Umbilical Venous Catheter insertion â?? 1. Primary postnatal access intravenous fluids or emergency medication 2. Long term central venous access 3. Exchange Transfusion 4. Delivery of blood and blood products 5. Difficult peripheral intravenous access 6. Total Parenteral Nutrition 7. Infusion of hypertonic solutions

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Neonates with major congenital anomalies affecting the thorax and abdomen including CDH, hydropsfetalis, omphalocoele, gastroschisis, patent urachus and skeletal dysplasia Neonates with peritonitis or necrotizing enterocolitis Neonates with repeat umbilical venous catheter placement Neonates with umbilical venous catheter placement without documentation of insertion length
