Intervention1: Group R (Ropivacaine): Epidural gelfoam soaked in 10ml of Ropivacaine (0.25%) Control Intervention1: Group P (Placebo): Epidural gelfoam soaked in 10 ml of 0.9% normal saline.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All the patients with age of 18-60 years of either sex, ASA physical status I or II posted for elective lumber laminectomy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients refusing to participate in the study ASA physical status Î?Î?Î? and Î?V patients Patients with known hypersensitivity to local anaesthetic Patients with infection at the site Patients with a history of bleeding or those on anticoagulants Patients with spinal/ anatomical abnormalities or history of previous lumbar spine surgery Patients with a history of preoperative steroid or opioid use or substance abuse Pregnant females Patients undergoing emergency surgery

1 Total Tramadol consumption in first 24 hours post-operatively. 2 VAS score in post-operative period at rest and on movement of lower limb. 3 Hemodynamic parameters in 24 hours post-operatively. 4 Post-operative complication 5 Patient satisfaction Timepoint: 24 hours
