Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients of either sex with American Society Anaesthesiologists’ physical status I-II, age between 18 and 70 years, with history of COVID 19 positive more than 3 months duration needed hospitalization and oxygen therapy during active phase) scheduled for surgery under general anaesthesia
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: The patient with presence of active respiratory tract infection, chronic obstructive lung disease, bronchial asthma and sleep apnoea syndrome, severe cardiovascular diseases, liver or kidney dysfunction, history of second- or third-degree heart block and ischemic heart diseases, body mass index >35 kg/m2 and surgery more than 3 lumbar segments will be excluded.

| The primary outcome will be a composite of major pulmonary and extra pulmonary complications occurring by day 7 after surgery. Major pulmonary complications will be defined as pneumonia or the need for invasive or non invasive ventilation for acute respiratory failure. Major extra pulmonary complications will be defined as sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock (defined according to consensus criteria) or death.Timepoint: Preoperative (baseline), Day 1, Day 7 and Day 30 | — |
