Intervention1: Thoracic spine Ultrasound pre-Scan for epidural catheter insertion: The USG probe will be covered with a sterile plastic sheath to maintain complete asepsis. The exact level of epidural
SonoSite, Bothell, WA, USA) or similar probe using the Esaote Mylab 5 system (whichever available). The superior border of lamina will be marked at the desired vertebral level around 1-1.5 cm lateral

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All adult surgical patients planned for epidural catheter placement at thoracic vertebral level between T5 to T8 belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical status I and II will be recruited

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Contraindication to epidural catheter placement 2.Refusal of consent for epidural analgesia or for participation in the study 3.Any indication for the procedure to be done by an expert operator e.g. BMI more than 35, with spinal deformities like kyphoscoliosis . 4.Epidural catheterization done under anaesthesia
