Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All adult pts (age above 18yrs) who will receive invasive mechanical ventilation through endotracheal tube for more than 48hrs for hypoxemic respiratory failure

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: •Age less than 18yrs •Type 2 respiratory failure •Tracheostomized patients •Profound neurological deficit and altered sensorium •Contraindication to HFNC application (base of skull fracture, known nasal obstruction and nasal trauma) •Psychiatric, agitated or non-cooperative patients
