Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All� households with individuals who have been living in the area for more than 6 months are eligible to participate in the study. In the households, the individuals will be screened to identify homes where the male members smoke within the homes.

Exclusion criteria: Those who do not give consent

Reduction in Second hand smoke exposure at homes by assessing urine cotinine levels among women and/or children of the household.Timepoint: 3, 9 and 15months

Assessment of periodic Fagenstrom Nicotine dependence score among the smokersTimepoint: 3,9,15 months;Blood pressure among the smokersTimepoint: 3,9,15 months;Correlation of urinary cotinine levels with the second hand smoke in the home environmentTimepoint: 3, 9 months and 15 months;Harm reduction of smokers and quit statusTimepoint: 3,9,15 months;Measurement of SHS smoke at home by measuring 2.5 and 10pm Timepoint: 3, 9 and 15months;Monitoring and assessing fidelity of intervention in terms of development of a training booklet, educational material, number of meetings organized ,proportion of self help group members in the area participating and inviting local self government members to participate.Timepoint: 15 months;Periodic measurement of Fev1/Fev6 to assess impact of the intervention on lung function Fev1/Fev6 of the smokersTimepoint: 3,9 and 15 months
