Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Radiologically confirmed diagnosis of Amebic liver abscess. 2) size of abscess 5-10 cm. 3) Amebic serology positive.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Left lobe abscess 2)Impending rupture/ Ruptured abscess. 3)Multiple liver abscesses. 4)Any systemic organ failure or sepsis. 5)Patients with primary or secondary immunodeficiency e.g., AIDS, Post transplantation, Splenectomised patients, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. 6)Pregnant women.

To observe the trends in the resolution of fever and pain abdomen ( Visual analogue scale )Timepoint: 5 days

MeasureTime frame
to observe normalization of leucocytosis; duration of hospitalization; treatment failure; rupture of abscess; and deathTimepoint: 5 days
