Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Orthodontic treatment with straight wire appliance with metallic brackets 2. Permanent teeth with full set of anterior teeth 3. No relevant medical history 4. No anti-inflammatory or antibiotic medications taken in the mouth before and during the study 5. No chewing gum used during the study 6. Patients using non-fluoridated tooth paste 7. Age between 12 and 35 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Mixed dentition 2. Previous history of orthodontic treatment 3. Tooth with developmental anomalies and fluorosis 4. Pregnancy, lactation, diabetes 5. Patients with habit of smoking 6. Tendency of frequent vomiting 7. Composite restoration and prosthetic crown on anterior teeth 8. Patients above the age of 35 years
