Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Children between 1 month to 12 years hospitalised with acute febrile illness (acute febrile illness will be defined in this study as a patient with fever of 38°C or higher at presentation to hospital or having history of fever for less than 2 weeks)
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Any associated pathology with decreased ferritin levels e.g. anaemia (hemoglobin 2.Any known underlying chronic diseases e.g. malignancy, rheumatological diseases, chronic organ diseases like chronic kidney diseases, chronic liver diseases etc as these could affect the prognosis and /or ferritin levels per se.
