Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Non-Smoker Group : Male patients with age group of >= 25 to 60 years. Patients not contraindicated for periodontal or implant surgery. One bounded edentulous space i.e., a single tooth missing with intact proximal teeth primarily in the lower posteriors (premolars and molars) with sufficient bone quantity to allow implant placement. Patients should be cooperative, motivated and oral hygiene conscious. Sufficient bone height (at least 13mm) and sufficient bone width (at least 6mm) should be present. Presence of local factors without signs of clinical inflammation. Stable occlusion with no para functional habits. Smokers Group: The above inclusion criteria will hold good for the same except that the patients will be Current mild smokers, i.e Patients who have smoked less than or equal to 10 Cigarettes per day and are still currently smoking at the time of implant surgery.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria: Presence of active periodontal disease at the time of implant surgery. Patients who did accept to comply for 1 year follow-up were excluded from the study. Patient diagnosed with known systemic diseases. Bone disorders like hyperparathyroidism, osteoporosis, or Pagetâ??s disease. Patients who are under steroids, anti-inflammatory and bisphosphonates in the past 6 months. Patients who are treated with radiotherapy or chemotherapeutic agents. Chronic alcoholics or drug abuse.

Design outcomes

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
SECONDARY OUTCOME: 1) To evaluate Relative position of gingival margin (mm) at the implant site among Smoker and Non-Smoker patients at Baseline, 6 months & 1 year post loading. 2) To assess the Implant stability quotient (ISQ) values were determined using resonance frequency analysis (RFA) before Early Loading protocol. Timepoint: 1 year

Primary

MeasureTime frame
PRIMARY OUTCOME: 1)Mean Crestal bone level changes (mm) to be assessed at Baseline and 1 year with standardized Intra oral periapical radiographs in Control and Test groups. 2)Implant survival rates (%) to be assessed at 1 year with radiographic and clinical assessment between Control and Test groups Timepoint: 1 year
