Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Time of resolution of severe pneumonia (considered when lower chest retraction and danger signs (inability to feed, lethargy, cyanosis or hypoxia) are no longer present. This will be measured in hours.Timepoint: Time of resolution of severe pneumonia will be assessed every 8 hourly from time of enrollment.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Duration of symptoms of pneumonia ( tachypnea , lower chest retraction and abnormal chest x ray findings) and the duration of hospital stay which will be defined as the time in hours between study enrolment and discharge.Timepoint: number of days of hospital stay
