Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children diagnosed to have Beta Thalassemia major on regular blood transfusion between the age group 5-18 years admitted in the Department of Paediatrics Kasturba Medical College ,Manipal will be included

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children with Beta Thalassemia and diagnosed with any other liver pathology such as : 1.Hepatitis B,C,Wilsons Disease ,Autoimmune hepatitis 2.Obese children 3.Fatty liver will be excluded .

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of liver fibrosis using Fibroscan and finding a co-relation with serum ferritin levels,serum transaminases,iron chelation therapy and yearly transfusion requirement in thalassemia children .Timepoint: Assessment of liver fibrosis using Fibroscan and finding a co-relation with serum ferritin levels,serum transaminases,iron chelation therapy and yearly transfusion requirement in thalassemia children and comparing the findings with a repeat Fibroscan after one year.
